"Shelter in Place"... a work about sheltering in place, created while sheltering in place with materials I had on hand. It's about a feeling of being far far away from everything. A tree can sometimes represent life but this tree is not in a place where it can get everything that it needs to thrive. The exposed frame of the roof symbolizes projects left unfinished. A bit of dark humor that inspired the addition of the tree was a story that went viral a few years ago about a man who died in a cave in 1974, but his body remained undiscovered for decades. It was eventually discovered because the fig tree which grew from the contents of his stomach was unusual for the area.
