Bio

Caroline WalkerThe subject of my work often explores a journey for happiness and creative fulfillment. My own journey starts after I completed my studies in engineering, I moved from the midwest to New York City to grow as an artist. I worked to developed my distinct collage style, using found images, painting, and line art. Due to the financial demands of New York City I mastered interactive graphic design and created online media for top advertising agencies. But after some years of this, seeking greater fulfillment I returned to making collage. I’ve now found I home in Austin. Graphic design experience has given me an appreciation for the control and efficiency with which software can bring creative concepts to life, so I incorporate them into my work. Nevertheless I find that even with the best digital tools, a certain human connection conveyed by the artist’s hand doesn’t come through as strongly without the usage of a diversity of textures.
